| Padmasambhava, called Guru Rinpoche, who brought Buddhism from India to Tibet in the eighth century and is said to have subdued the local deities rather than displacing them. In Mustang he is everywhere — the caves above Lo Manthang are full of him. Tashi Gurung lives in Lo Manthang, the walled capital of the former Kingdom of Lo, on Nepal's border with Tibet. He has painted thangkas in the classical Tibetan Buddhist tradition since the 1990s. Read more about Tashi | |
