PREP TIME
And this is our second art fair!
And it's our first in San Francisco out of all places,
No Pressure!
And I love this place already
Oh, the boathouse, the Marina and Fort Mason

So let’s prep for it, two months in advance :)
And that means stretching some of the canvases and framing them

And that also means photographing them with the legend of SF, Don Felton
Because you never know, maybe this is the last time I’ll see this artwork

And then the art booth setup

My mom absolutely MUST see it (and feel a bit proud for her son)

And get the red (well, pink) dots ready for good luck

Almost ready!

And I am almost happy with the booth layout, almost... :)
THE FAIR, THE ART FAIR
And the show is on! Watch out for the crowds
But first, let’s have a drink (for the courage of course)

And my neighbors are the best

From New Zealand, from the East Coast, from Denver
And they speak French, Ukrainian, Romanian, German, Italian
And they feed me homemade chocolates

And then, the people come in

With their kids, dogs and significant others

Some are dressed in an exquisite bubble wrap tunic (I know!)

And some with TJ bags full of kale and fresh radishes

Wait, is someone playing Iggy Pop’s “The Passenger”?!

On a cello out of all instruments?! Crazy! Crazy good!
AND YOU GET TO MEET GREAT PEOPLE
And your friends come

From your old Apple days. (I can’t believe you guys made it!)

And from your Los Gatos days (thats a long drive)

And the Shipyard artists (my neighbors)
And the gallerists,

And some really strange people too
Wait, is this Alan Bamberger? The Alan Bamberger?
Let me put on a smart and serious face :)

It is really amazing to see people open up about art
What they like, what they see in it, what memories it brings

We’re no longer narrowly defined labels
We’re the icebergs beneath the surface

TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE HAVING FUN
Time definitely flies when you’re having fun

Was it really 5 long, 12 hour-long, days??

Seems like we just started
But its time to wrap the gifts

And find a new home for the paintings

And make someone smile (well, maybe that’s too corny :)
And as I am writing this, a month later
A month of panic, disbelief, denial,
A month spent worrying for your loved ones
A month where uncertainty is the only certainty we have
Seems like this Superfine was so many years ago
Seems like some innocence was lost
Seems like we had way too much fun :)
So long! We’ll see you next year!
