Last year, Art House SF hosted our first solo exhibit of the Japanese master woodblock artist Hajime Namiki. We were thrilled to see how well his exhibit was received in San Francisco, and as soon as the exhibit ended in April of 2024, Max Khusid flew back to Japan to find more of Namiki's work.
After having many lonely ramen lunches:

Attending several art shows in Tokyo:

Taking the Shinkansen train to Kyoto and visiting several old woodblock prints publishing houses (in search of the new work by Hajime Namiki):

Eating more Japanese food like clam soup and tempura:

Traveling back to Tokyo on the high-speed Shinkansen train (and being stuck with a cold in a hotel for a couple of days):
and visiting more publishing houses, this time in Tokyo:

And visiting my favorite Ueno Park:

Running into a pro-Trump rally in the center of Tokyo:

While recovering from the cold with more warm and spicy ramen:

Max was finally able to find enough of Hajime Namiki's new work for a new art exhibit in April of 2025.

From May of 2024 until February 2025, Art House SF then worked tirelessly to carefully frame each art piece in the museum-quality, custom-milled cherry frames made by a family-run business in the US. Each work, protected with archival-grade mats, and backing boards, and UF-filter glass. Then everything is carefully assembled here in San Francisco.
I am excited to bring Hajime Namiki's amazing woodblock prints back to San Francisco for his second solo exhibit.
For almost 15 years, another American art gallerist, Kappy Hendricks from Bethesda, Maryland, organized annual Hajime Namiki art exhibits in Maryland. Unfortunately, Kappy passed away in 2016, yet I would like to continue the tradition she established. The tradition of Hajime Namiki's solo exhibit every year in the month of April.
Please take a look at our virtual exhibit.
And if you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, please see Namiki's exhibit in April 2025.
