Iris Kristmunds is a contemporary Icelandic artist from Reykjavík.
In her own words...
I am an engineer and a self-taught artist from Iceland. I have always enjoyed art and creation but have paid little attention to it for the last 15 years due to a lot of work and raising children. However, after working as an information technology manager in the financial industry for over 10 years, I decided to focus more on the things that filled me with joy and happiness and started painting for real.
I live in Reykjavík, the capital city of Iceland, with my husband, two teenagers, and the family dog Lubbi (Coton de Tulear). I primarily paint for my own pleasure and enjoyment but at the same time, I find it wonderful that my art interests others. I mostly work with acrylic on canvas and I love mixing different colors together to create beautiful abstract art as the diversity in my work is somehow so satisfying for the engineering I am.
