Original title in Spanish is "Cauteverio Feliz". This painting was inspired the literary work of 1673 by Francisco Núñez de Pineda y Bascuñán, who narrates the experiences of his captivity in the year 1629 in the hands of the Mapuche warriors during the Arauco War. According to his words: «the Indians ..., although barbaric, know how to be human and grateful».
From Lobsang: "although the painting gets the name from that book, it is based on the irony of being caged but at the same time happy flying."
